What can I do at STAR?

The STAR lab (JC-229) is a state-of-the-art student technology learning facility. The lab is staffed with student mentor-consultants who have technical expertise in analog/digital video editing and production and multimedia computing technologies. Mentors provide problem-driven advice and assistance to all students in the development and production of academic or co-curricular projects, and may act as technical liaisons to course instructors who request specialized guidance/training for their students.

  • Obtain one-stop access to leading-edge technology, equipment, resources and services.
  • Develop 21st century skill sets in a broad range of current multimedia technologies.
  • Join or initiate multimedia creative projects, competitions and student clubs sponsored by the STAR Center.
  • Find an environment that empowers students to become comfortable, competent, or creative in the use of technology.
  • Students and Faculty can check out various digital video and still cameras as well as tripods and accessories for up to 6-hour blocks of time. Call (703) 993-8990 to make a reservations.
