STAR Lab Mission The mission of the STAR Center main lab (JC-229) is to provide high-quality multimedia and video technology services to the campus community. The lab is staffed with student mentor-consultants with technical expertise focused in analog/digital video editing and production and multimedia computing technologies. Mentors provide advice and assistance to all students in the development and production of academic or co-curricular projects, and may act as technical liaisons to course instructors who request specialized guidance/training for their students.

Thus, it is our aim to be a one-stop resource supporting the greater educational mission of George Mason University, such as integrating technology in the curriculum, enhancing teaching and learning, and providing students with comprehensive technological and mentoring support services.

Goals/Objectives:

  1. To provide access to high-quality, leading-edge technology, equipment, and services as well as skilled student mentors to serve the needs of a media-rich curriculum and drive the development of 21st century skill sets.

  2. To encourage skill development in technology and team-building by creating opportunities for students to join or initiate creative projects sponsored by the STAR Center.

  3. Our goal is to ensure that each student becomes comfortable, competent, or creative in the use of technology.
